We have been so overwhelmed by the participation just in the first week. A huge thanks goes out to all that have participated. If you still have not done so, do not worry because you have until midnight on Thursday November 8th to turn in your entries to our Flickr Pool! Our sponsor this week is Damsel Designs, and her vintage treats are divinely aligned with this week's theme.
This week, the theme is Shabby Chic. In the world of home decorating, shabby chic means taking something old and worn and making it look new and fresh (or, perhaps the reverse). Popular shabby chic designers take flea market finds, floral fabrics, vintage linens, and new but distressed furniture to create comfortable yet sophisticated spaces.
With this challenge we will take a page from the habby chic decorating style. Part one of the challenge is to incorporate three (3) techniques of shabby chic design on your page.
Choose from the following design techniques:
1. Torn, worn, and bent edges
2. Hand-stitching
3. Black and White photo
4. Paint and crackle
5. Sanding

Words of Inspiration:
HOME
"When I think of home
I think of a resting place
A place where theres peace, quiet, and serenity
And thats where some of my friends have gone
Friends who have traveled with me through my
wonderful
experience in Oz
A journey Ill never forget
When I think of home, I think of a place
Wheres theres love overflowing
I wish I was home, I wish I was back there
With the things Ive been knowing
Wind that makes the tall grass bend into leaning
Suddenly the raindrops that fall they have a meaning
Sprinklin' the scene
Makes it all clean
(When I think of home)
Maybe theres a chance for me to go back
Now that I have some direction
(Maybe theres a chance Ill get home)
It sure would be nice to be back at home
Where theres love and affection
And just maybe I can convince time to slow up
Givin me enough time, ooh, in my life to grow up
Time be my friend
And let me start again"

Oh so that's what you call them, Shabby Chic. It has quite a ring to it, as do their work. Although the problem is that some of them tend to overlook their own furnishings. They should still be able to make the item blend with the environment.
